you dont determine TDC condition of your motor by looking at the gears in your CAS.
First of all, put your CAS back together just the way it is.
Second of all, look at the crank pulley, you will see several notches and a needle right on top of it. Now when the needle is pointing at the second mark from the left and your #1 cam lobes are facing outwards, you are at TDC on compression stroke. This is the reference point for making sure all your mechanical timing is correct. (IE timing chain, CAS approx location, etc)
You can see your cam lobe by opening the oil filler cap. #1 cam lobe should be right underneath. That lobe should be facing outwards (towards the pass side on the intake cam)
