help!!!!pinging at stock timing underload

i need help trying to figure out why my 240sx(ka24e) is pinging at stock timing.... i can retard it up to 3 degrees but it wont stop pinging until i retard it 5+ degrees.... is there any solutions or causes to this problem... the noise sounds like a rattle... i hope you can help me... im all out of ideas...thanks...

its not the timing chain is it?

try filling up with premium next time, see if it stops then

i will try 91... but summin tells me its deeper...

it could be rod knock i guess, or timing chain

i dont think rod knock... cause it only does it under acceleration... and the sound went away... 91 octane did the trick... thanks 240kid...saved me a headache! thread closed....
