I am thinking of picking up a timing light for use with KA/RB/SR. Does anybody have any recommendations or experiences, good or bad, that might help me pick one out.

Gordon,

If you can find an old inductive timing light, your good. (the kind with the metal housing / body - SUN, Craftsman, MAC, Matco, Snap-On, etc). You can find them on Ebay or swap meets for ~$20-30. (Which reminds me, this Sunday is a 'Super Sunday' in Indy... )

The newer style lights have issues.

I have an old SUN Test Equipment 7501 light that I use. It looks brand new and is several years my senior..

Here is a link to one on EBay right now. $20 to your door!

I spent a few days looking around. The Snap-on stuff was about $340, too high. The Auto Zone and Advance Auto stuff looked the same and was real cheap plastic. I swung by the Sears Hardware and spotted a few old boxes tucked away in the display case. Metal body, quality product. PERFECT! :bigthumb: about $80

I got to use it today and it was a winner.
