ok heres the deal. I have a revhard manifold. I ordered a super 60 t3 from boost designs (the one used in the stage one kit.) The stage 1 kit from boost designs uses a top mount manifold, with an external wastegate. I am also using a top mount manifold with an external wastegate. So how come the oil line inlets are sideways, and the compressor housing is in the wrong direction, and the turbo has an internal wastegate, when it comes in a kit with an external wastegate.

1. I need to take the actuator off. but when i do this, the wastegate flap inside will just go loose. so i guess i have to get it welded over the exhaust hole?

2. I can clock the compressor housing to point in the right direction, but how do i get the oil lines to point in the right direction? (btw, blue is in, red is out, right? so the blue one should be on top, correct?)

3. the exhaust shaft looks all cut up. this is because of balancing right?

Sorry for spamming on here, but the boostdesigns guy isnt on AIM and id like to get this figured out ASAP.

im pretty sure you can clock both the compressor and turbine housings, so that should allow you to line up the oil ports correctly. the feed is the small circle and the return is the larger square.

for the internal wastegate, what would happen if you just disconnect the boost source? would it just not open then? i have heard of people welding the flapper closed as well though.

which one goes on top? the feed right?

and, you mean just leave the actuator hooked up, but discon. the vaccum line? hmm i dont think i could have the turbo all pointing the right way with the actuator still hooked up to the bracket.

yeah feed on top, return on bottom.

im honestly not sure about the wastegate, just an idea...oh yeah if you have to clock it anyways, it would probably just make more sense to remove the actuator as well.

Remove the actuator... thats why you have that external wastegate. Then you weld the flap shut.

Run the compressor pressure line to the external gate.

make sure to connect the line to the side port of the wastegate just in case you didnt know.

k cool, thanks for the info guys. i think i got all the different peices rotated in the proper direction and such. I will put up a picture later on to confirm.

about welding up the internal wastegate, i have been looking at the mechanism and i cant figure out how to get it off? how do you get the flap off so you can weld it over the exhaust hole? should i just cut the whole thing off, screw a bolt into the hole in the ehxuast housing, and tack the flap on over the hole inside? how do people usually do this?

and about gaskets - i guess z31 turbo, oil feed, oil drain gaskets will work with what i am doing? just wanted to make sure before i go grab some from the dealer. god the dealer is expensive.

THANKS i really appriciate it guys.

Not sure if I understand your question completely but if I do, I believe you're supposed to weld the wastegate door/flap thingy shut, not remove it and put another piece of metal in there.

If you look really closely at the point where the rod attaches to the W/G lever arm you will notice a small clip. Pull it out and the arm and plunger come off easily. Then just tack the flapper shut and you are good to go.

To tack the flap all you is have someone hold it shut with the remnants of the lever arm and you weld it to the housing. You can't weld it from the inside cause you won't be able to see what you are doing.

Is that all it takes to convert to external gate?

Yep... that and obviously a functioning manifold w/ ext. gate on it.
