Hello, i have a 91 240 sx and one cylinder is not working. I've replaced the distributor cap, wires, and spark plugs and this doesn't solve the problem.

Could it be a bad fuel injector? How can I diagnose a bad fuel injector? I"ve read something about an audio click test but don't know how to do this.

Please, if you know about testing and replacing bad fuel injectors, contact me.

Thanks...

You could swap the injector with another one from your motor and see if the dead cylinder moves with it. If you have access to a compression tester you should also check that cylinder they arent very expensive either bout 20-25 bucks.

Test it with a ohm meter first. Just disconnect the wire and measure at the injector pins. I dont know for the KA24DE but for the KA24E, they should be between 10 and 15 ohms.

Whats a good method for pulling the injector? Should I have to remove the railing to do this? I've tried pulling on them but they seem tight.

Also, I do have a compression tester, whats the procedure? Thanks.

Well, I've done a compression test on it, and all the cylinders are reporting the same number : around 182 psi, which is about normal.

So if its not the valves or the sparks, is it pretty much the fuel supply? What else can it be? Thanks.

I think i heard that when you pull your injector you have to get new O-rings. I think they are a one use type deal. not sure though...

By "Audio click test" I would assume you are referring to taking an automotive stethascope and listening to see if the injector is opening and closing. You can use a screwdriver, but it doesn't work as well. If you are unsure as to what it should sound like, listen to all of the other injectors first. Sounds like you have a bad injector though.

No one has suggested this yet?!?!?!

Perhaps the head gasket has torn on one of the cylinders, and is losing compression.A simple compression test will tell you what's up.
