help on xm install

Got a new qx56 1 month ago. did not get factory installed xm. searched around but didn't find some simple info (sure it is here but can't find it)

is q "pre-wired" for satwhat does that meanmy wife bought me an xm car radio for xmas, that can either be plugged in or connected by fm modulator.if my car is prewired can i use this tuner.if it is prewired will the xm display come on the car radio display, ie. nav unit.how do I install.

I am new to the forum but here goes.IF it is 2006 than Yes it is "pre wired" for sat even if you do not have the "SAT" button.It means you can buy the Infinity XM system from a dealer and It can be controled by your factory buttons and will display on your factory display. I just did the install in my 2006 QX56 for Sirius. I downloaded my install instructions off of the web. They are the same set for XM or Sirius.

my dealer wanted 750.00 to complete the set-up.We are pre-wired but are lacking the moduel.to activate the sat.So I wanted ASAP and cheap.,I was driving to Tennessee from Fl and needed somthing else for music.I went to radio shack bought a sirrus modoe (sp) for 59.00 and then called the 1-800 number for sirrus and started my subscription.it hooks up to a cig lighter and I hide the wires in the glove box.It doesn't look that bad..and it was immeadiate service for a fraction of the cost the dealer imposes on us.....I love it.The radio buttons do not control the ubit.However the display on the radio shack are backlit and it comes with a remote control.Good luck.If you wanna see what it looks like installed in my qx go to http://www.yahooautos.com or type i8n custom QX56 in the keyword box and LOTS of custom QX56 are there/from ALL over the world.some are sittin on 26 inches.Thanks Dani from Palm City, Florida

I love every detail except the roof rack should have been chrome, I have upgraded from top to bottom and from front to back.They have shown pics of the new 08 model and they have fixed 2 things so far I wished ours had.1)being the window controls get wet if your window is cracked, and you wash your window.or it's raining.some people like me like to drive with a crack in the window to let smoke out & breeze in.2) luggage rack is chromed 3) 20 inch rims come standard..I have "they say" one of the few SAGE colored Qx56s.so I started from that and worked ionto a very custom fine machine..I ride on 24 inch rims and real low profiles.so I gave up some of the comfort in the ride hookin her up like that.but she looks HOT.If you go to http://www.wooddashexperts.com.or http://www.burtmanindustries.com you'll find lots of upgrades......The triple chrome Bentley style grill top and bottom complete the front end.Before it looked like the bottom portion was missing.I choose NOT to haver the intelligent cruise control installed, so it was just lost space.NOW she looks straight........look mine up sometime.yahoo pages custom qx56 under [email protected] and comment if you wish,,Hope you are staying warm where ever you live.I live in South Florida.See ya.Dani

wish i would have seen this sooner.sold a few tuners on ebay.i can get some more if anyones interested.
