I have a 1990 240sx 5sp manual transmission. There is a loud clunking noise when I put the car in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th gear. The noise dissappear once I put it in 4th gear. At first I thought the nosie was coming from the driveshaft. I checked the u-joints and the center bearing and found nothing wrong. My buddy and I put the rear end on jacks, start the car, put it in gear and let the wheels roll. I went underneath the vehicle and heard the clunking noise coming in the transmission. Can anyone please tell me where inside the transmission is that nosie coming from.
P.S I also checked the transmission fliud which was pretty low. I added more fluid in the transmission, drove the car around and the clunking noise is still there.
