so i got i few options, i really love Rb's and at the moment i have a Rb20. i have about 6 grand that is going towards this car that i have. My question is is it even worth it putting that much money on an rb20? I was thinking about it and came across what does it take to have a Rb26? all i would have to do is save couple more grand. The only problems is i don't know what would i be getting my self into lol. I live in iowa so theres no where around my area with shops or even dynos. So what am i looking at money wise for an Rb26? and main problems with it? I really love my rb20 but i just want to hit higher numbers. Any input is appreciated!

i don't know how much an rb26 and rb25 differ, but where i live an rb25 swap would be around $8500… Thats at a legit, 240sx specialist shop I've heard of. Cant imagine the price would differ too much from place to place, unless you got the hook-up, or if you're doing it yourself.. Obviously wayyy cheaper if you do it yourself

Its not a easy swap.

Who did your RB20 swap? I wouldn't recommend a RB26 swap for a learning experience..

Plus 6k isn't even close to what you will end up spending if you do it properly...

off the top of my head, if u go with the rb26, youll have to also buy the RB25 RWD 5spd transmission as the rb26 is a AWD transmission. motor/transmission mounts and a custom driveshaft will be needed, i believe those can all be bought from McKinney motorsports. i would think that there would also be other slight modifications that would differ in dificulty depending what u have access to.

assuming the rb20 is already in your car and running, id stick with that. u can have a nice running rb20 and still put some money into other needed areas in your car other then the motor. its your car and your call though

It was my first time with a RB. He had a ready to go wiring specialties harness, and full McKinney swap kit. With all the parts in hand and an empty prepped bay you can do this in about a day or two.
