Help on my 240 electrical problem transmission shift rough/ engine lag out.

hi

i need some help on my car. I have a 96 240sx everytime when i drive my car early in the morning in stop and go traffic my car shift very rough and rpm jump kinda high not shifting smooth and while i'm driving in the traffic that so busy i have to stop and suddlen my engine just went out die off so i have to start the engine agian. Is it because of electrical problem in my car?? help me out..
