What do you mean "the best"? How are we going to know what is "best" for you? There is a bunch of quality aftermarket exhaust out there dude.

2.5 is enough for what you are looking for. 3 inch would be more used for forced induction applications.

Alright, I'm in a same boat and I've been researching A LOT!!!!You better find someone with Blitz Realize TT 3" piping on KA and check it out. I know someone and love it!!!! That's what I'm going to get. One thing though. New model has a better looking tip. I've been considering Megaphone, 5 Zigen Border III...etc, but Realize TT hands down. Yeah, find one and check it out. You will love the sound, gain and looks.

2.5 and no bigger is needed you might actually loose power going 3"

When people see giant coffee cans failing to increase (or even decreasing) power on tiny wheezy 4-bangers, they incorrectly conclude that this is due to too little backpressure. What's really happening is Bernoulli's principle in action...you take a flow of gas in a given diameter and then suddenly increase the diameter, dropping the velocity. Slowly moving gas has higher pressure, so your coffee can has actually added backpressure. Having the piping decrease in size would accelerate the gas and drop the pressure, but it takes energy to accelerate the gas and you'd also be adding friction. The setup for the most power (ie the least power-robbing) is to start out with the biggest exhaust valve feasible, then run a piece of pipe as straight and short and of as consistent diameter as possible. This minimizes friction and pressure and maximizes velocity.

In short 2.5 all the way down

I happen to be one of many monkeys running the Blitz Realize TT on a fresh KA E. Excellent fitment, sound, appearance and ground clearance. Once you swallow the cost, it's very hard to find anything to dis-like about it.That said, I will be picking up an Apexi Hybrid Megaphone after the holidays. Simply for comparison. It comes in at almost $200 less than the Blitz, and may be a bit louder on a stock engine. But I don't like to talk without knowing.

Think of it this way: You got your shop vac with a 2.5in pipe and your sucking up little rocks. Throw a 5 inch pipe on there and you can't pick them up, you lost velocity/vacuum. Only way to make that work is get a bigger vacuum cleaner aka turbo/displacement.

2.5 max, 2.25 is ideal on stock, at least as far as sound.

I have the 5Zigen Border III exhaust and love it. Big power difference in the mid to upper rpm range on both KA (E) and the recently swapped OBD-II 97 KA (DE). Nice low tone that doesn't get too loud when under hard acceleration.

5Zigen Border III FTW!
