i got these off ebay of course to save money just to lower the car temporarily....it comes with springs, rubber gramets, tighten tool, and threaded part. just not sure what the method of isntalling or where the rubber parts go...hope pic helps. and hope someone that wont criticize for ghetto-ness can help...thanks in advance.

** curiousity ** can i just loosen up the strut from body, then lift car with jack to relieve spring pressure and then take spring out and replace with this kit and lower car back down and tighten strut back down???????

no that spring will come flyin off and smack you in the eye haha. i don't really know how to do it but i do know that you have to compress a spring to take it off. otherwise their is enough force to break bones in that thing.

even if i loosen the strut bolts from studs on top part in fender of car but with car weight on spring still...then jack car off ground slowly so wheel stays on ground but body and spring come up slowly??? so it wont have any tension and remove spring...and when reinstallin do same way, have car jacked up high enough with tire on ground but body in air, slide spring onto strut and lower car down til strut studs line up with fender holes and then tighten down the strut?? that sounds logical, but i know ppl and shops use a spring compressor for safety, and can be rented at the zone...but im a shade tree mechanic in a way dont have access to every tool invented and its just me in my driveway. im just glad we dont have the clutch tip to loosen strut from fender, bad experiences with those strippin...ill be using stock struts until i can afford new ones and have the lowering springs set all the way down so its at the highest level before i start manually lowering the car...let me know what u think... btw...its an UPTO 4" front 3" back drop on lowest setting...look ok on stock 15" rims?? not sure how much lower the highest setting lowers the car yet but the springs are shorter already

Don't know if you have Kragen Auto Parts in TX, they might call it Checkers. But you can borrow a spring compressor tool for free (leaving a deposit).

Don't half-*** it. Bad stuff happens with springs under pressure.

As far as the install, the rubber o-rings go on your stock shock (find the size that fits). Then the threaded collar slips over the o-rings. The o-rings keep the collar in place. I believe you use 2 o-rings per sock (one towards the bottom and one near the top of the collar).

You basically bought a cheap version of Ground Control coilovers. http://www.ground-control-store.com/index.php

Don't know for sure if the car can be raised high enough for you to take out the spring the way you explained. I guess one way is for you to try it.

What i used to do back in the day to replace the stock spring with aftermarket ones was....Remove the whole assembly (strut and spring as a whole) from the car. Get a tire (just a TIRE) place it against the wall on its side. Then place the strut assembly with the top against the tire, with your left or right foot standing on the spring. Then with your other foot place the sole of your shoe on the ground and bottom side of the sturt, so that the strut does not go shooting out. Then carefully loosen the top of the strut bolt.

The tire will absorb the load of the spring pressure. Just be careful that you don't lose the strut bolt.

But you have to make sure that your new springs is short enough for you to put on your stock struts. Or else your going to need a spring compressor anyways.

Good Luck...hope this helped.
