A little history first. I have a '91 hatch with the dohc. long story short, i ended up rebuilding the engine. i deleted the egr and air injection pump. i have fuel, spark, and compression. just trying to start it up it'll fire nicely for 3-4 seconds, then just quit. so i figured i'd try timing it..this only has a negative effect, as my timing is set at 20 BTDC. the only way i get to "run" her is to unplug both the MAF and TPS. but i still have to tap the throttle. so i figured i'd get another MAF and did get a used one off a running car. but this had no effect at all, so maybe i got another bad MAF. now im pretty stumpped and would appriciate any input. i know im prolly leaving something out, but i'll fill in when i remember.
