i was wondering ifi could cross refernce it with an engine here bc that seems like a lot of money for just an oil pump (280 dollars)

You could take out the oil pump gear and relief valve itself and take it down to Nissan and compare it with an SR20DE oil pump parts.

The reason the other parts are so expensive is because it includes a front cover which isnt necessary for an oil pump overhaul.

well i was just told that it might be my sender. He told me to remove the oil cap and place my hand over to see if there was pressure. I did and there was a lot of pressure. Does that mean my oil pump works or what? i want to make sure that i need one before i get it because i dont really have that much money. thanks for the answers too.

Uhhh, that won't tell you if there's oil pressure at all. Whoever told you that is an idiot.

The only way to check if you have oil pressure is to hook up an oil pressure gauge. Is the idiot light in your dash on? I'd lean towards a bad sending unit. It's real rare for a pump to just die outright (unless it's seized). Generally they just start flowing less and less.

well the light turns on every now and then. once the car warms up or gets past a certain rpm range it goes off. im also using some pretty heavy weight oil. i thinks is 40 weight. As you can already tell by now i dont really know that much about cars. my car runs fine too but i was told when i got it installed that the oil pump was frozen. i didnt see how that was possible so......... if it is the sending unit where could i get one? thanks for your help.

I'd stop driving your car around right now. I had a problem with my oil pump when I installed my sr. Turns out the little check valve that closes at low rpm was stuck and the pressure dropped. I had to pull my motor and replace the main bearings. That little valve closes to block off the oil flow to the piston squirters.

Since you said the oil light goes off at high rpm... I'm thinking it means there's enought pressure then, but when you get at low rpm's and idle, it comes on.

Call JWT, they provided me will the extra oil pump parts, so i didnt have to buy the whole unit.
