I just took out my cluster pod, and I didnt unhook anything from it, I wanted to clean the thing, and jiggle the wires to the HUD to see if it would then work.I only unhooked the wires to the hazards and the defrost and flip up and the rest of the wires to the bezel. Now I got the HUD to work but the stereo wouldnt work, so I hooked up the yellow and red wire to get it to work, then i started the car and everything worked. Then when I turn it off the seatbelts wont work, the steroe dont hold memory, the clock dont work in the cluster.

What is going on? I fixed the HUD and then I lose constent power when the key is off.

The hazards still work and the lights will flip up. But something isnt keeping a constent power supply.

Please Help! THanks

Did you check your fuses. Sounds like you blew the interior or radio fuse(may call it something else on 240s)

checked all fuses.

well when I 1st put everything back together this is what happened:The light for the doors open stayed on and the radio wouldnt workso I wired the red and yellow wire together and then the radio would work and the light went off for the doors being open.so I thought it was fixed until I shut the car off.everything turned off.The dome light wont work, the clock in the cluster, the seatbelts, int. lights. - none of this will work with the key off.everything worked fine before.I took it all apart and tried to see if a wore came off the back of the cluster, but everything was tight.

Im lost. The constent power is gone. so everyhting resets and i gotta leave the car runnning when i open the door so the seat belts move down.

Only good thing is I fixed the HUD. just a loose wire. Now I wish I never attempted this simple task.

any other ideas?

Did you check the fuses under the hood also? And did you check every single fuse with a test light or multimeter? There is a chance you pulled some other wire loose when you pulled the cluster out.

Those are EXACTLY the symptoms of blowing a dome light fuse. Seen it happen a hundred times. That one fuse affects the clock, radio, dome light, and seat belts.

Like many of you, I had this exact problem. Suffered with it for over 6 months because I couldn't figure it out. Turns out that it was the third fuse down on the right (for my 1990 anyway). It was a 10 amp. It didn't look blown, but when I replaced it it everything started working again.

I still open my door before I shut the car off so that the seatbelt will slide open. Old habbits are hard to break I guess :)
