Help. Not getting any spark, what's going on?

I have an MSD 6BTM connected to my car. This is on a E to DE swap engine as well. I have had this successfully running for about a month. But for the past week I've noticed that it was missing down low, around 2000 or so RPM's and when shifting, but anything above that it would be fine. Well the other day at a stop light it just died. There was no spark. Had it towed home, did some tests. At first I thought it may have been the MSD Box/Coil. Did some tests, had sparks come out successfully from the coil wire when the white trigger wire rubbed up against a ground. So the MSD isn't the issue. Found out that when the MSD is connected to the green/black and red/black coil wires and the car is cranked over, no spark. Somehow no signal is getting to the green/black coil wire. I even tried a stock coil and could not get any sparks. Used a voltmeter to test the crank angle sensor at the 0 and 180 degree volt marks - voltage fluctuated between 0 and 5 volts for both points like FSM said. Had someone turn over car while I had voltmeter connected to green/black and red/black wire - I was reading battery voltage?? So I'm not sure what the problem is. I could get the car running albeit horribly by just rubbing the white wire against a ground while someone turned over the car.

Well why not keep tracing it forward? What's the condition of your distribuitor? Cap and rotor? How bout plug wires, or the plugs themselves?

If it was running beforehand I really wouldnt suspect faulty wiring or anything like that... I'd just check the wear parts listed above first.

Thanks for replying fiznat. I would check those items, but I can get the car to start by just taking the white wire from the MSD (connects to green/black wire from coil) and rubbing it up against a ground on the vehicle. What I'm actually doing by doing this is the test method for the MSD to see if the box is faulty (which it is not). Sparks jump from the blaster coil - the the coil wire - to the block. So I can get it to spark, but not when the white wire is connected to the green/black wire. It seems as if the green/black wire isn't throwing a signal to the MSD or a stock coil for that matter. Because when either ignition is connected to the coil wires, no spark is generated when the car is turned over. The odd thing is is that I connected a volt meter to the coil wires (green/black - black/red) and had someone turn it over and battery voltage is detected from the wires. So I have no idea what is going on. Does this give you a clearer idea of what I'm talking about?

My friend just started to have the same problem on a KA24E. I think the extra heat from the turbo starts to get to them, he had the same problem on his last on. That what my friend suspected it was. I have get my extra one for my parts car and give it a try. Great to hear you got it running. Nick
