Hello, I had an injector leak into my engine, and overflow my oil with gas. I then drained my engine from the oil plug (about 3 gallons of oil/gas!) and also I used an engine flush. Immediately after, my timing chain starts to rattle, and my oil light goes on.

I understand that the timing chain depends alot on oil pressure.Could it be that I killed my oil pressure somehow? Perhaps I clogged the oil pickup with the flush? I dont know, please help!

Thanks!

You need to check the oil pressure with a gauge. You need to make sure you have no oil pressure. The fuel in the oil can wash out the lifters and it may sound as if the timing chain is loose. The oil sending unit could have been damaged by the fuel in the oil.

Hello, I towed it to one mechanic who said I have no oil pressand and need a new oil pump installed for $850. I took it then to another mechanic who listened to the rattling sound from my timing chain and said my bearings are shot and I need a engine rebuild for 1800.

But I at least found out that I don't have any oil pressure. But from what I read hear can it still just be lack of oil pressure causing the rattling and not bad bearings? I did not run the car after I noticed the warning lights and rattle.

Thanks!

I would like to add to the above that the mechanic who listened to the rattling kept saying my timing belt was stretched. Should I be concerned with his knowledge of the car as I have a timing chain not a belt?
