I was changing out the burned bulbs in the seat control on the door and made the mistake of using a screwdriver to remove a bulb with the lights headlights turned on and blew a fuse. None of the door lights, center console lights or instrument cluster lights are working.

I've looked at every fuse under the dash and hood and all appear to be good. Does anyone know which fuse controls all these functions and its location. I am looking throught he FSM now trying to figure it out but any help would be appreciated.

not that I know what it is, but have you checked the under hood fuses/relays as well?

I've looked at all under hood and under dash fuses. Haven't done any diagnostics on any relays (the ones without clear plastic caps). I'm trying to figure out the wiring schematic but am getting just a headache from reading the small print. Whichever fuse/relay it is is affecting all the small bulbs in the interior, including the dimmer switch for the instrument cluster. Headlamps and brake lights are working fine.

I pulled the car out of the garage after an evening of trying to fix my lighting problem and in addition to all the interior mini bulbs and insrument panel lights being out now the headlights are stuck on high beam.

I've been reading the FSM and running back and forth to the garage all evening checking and rechecking fuses. Haven't found the problem yet so now I am trying to figure out the self-diagnosis for the headlamp relay. It looks expensive. I'd rather not replace it uness I'm sure it's the problem.

I read a post where a member had done the same thing as me while trying to replace a microbulb and only burned out a 10 amp fuse. I've looked at every fuse but which one might this have been? Is there another "lighting" relay or fuse somewhere that I could have burned out. Any help would be appreciated.

Finally, if I do have to change out the headlamp relay, does my 94 use the same one as a 9093?

Wes- If you're out there can you help me out with these part numbers. I did the self diagnosis and none of the LCU's or BCM are fried and I've checked and rechecked all fuses. Unless I fried a wire somewhere (doubtful) its got to be the headlamp relay. There's an abandoned 91Qa at work that I can swap out the relay with and check it but I want to make sure they are interchangable before plugging it in or lookin for one off a 94-96 at the local recycle yards. Thanks

I am not sure if these are related... but, boy, I sure hope you don't have similar problems to mine.

This probably won't help... but, just in case I thought I should post it. I shared a few similar symptoms.

Thanks for the post. I've been following it since you originally posted it. If I do any of that type of installation I'll definately be driving to Best Buy in Alemeda to have Larry (chinanitrous) do the work.

I don't think my problem is as extensive as yours as I was simply removing a bulb. I've got the headlamp relay out and am now searching old posts for the P/N of the 90-93 unit. Once I verify that they are interchangeable I can drive to work and get the one off the abandoned Q.

The P/N from my '94 is 25230-68U00 found imprinted on its metal bracket between the two mounting bolts. If anyone has a moment, could they look at the P/N from their 90-93Q. The headlamp relay is right next to the under engine compartment fuse box, mounted on the fender, and can be easily read, no tools required (maybe a flashlight). Thanks

I guess the only reason I thought it might be similar was because mine started with a simple lack of blinkers. But, I couldn't find a fuse anywhere that was the problem.

It was circuit city checking relays, and potentially replacing them, that lead to the loss of all the other systems. I guess I just wanted to post my 2 cents to make sure you are super careful.

Don't want to get in there an accidentally kill one system while repairing another.

Problem solved. It was a burnt out 10A fuse under the hood, 4th from the top. I'd read a half dozen posts that directed me to that same fuse and every time I pulled it out and did a visual inspection it looked good.

Today, I talked to an Elec Tech at work who said you can't always look at a fuse and tell if it's good. I went home at lunch and this time checked the fuse on the meter for continuity and it was open. I looked at it with a magnifying glass and could see a hairline break. Put in a new fuse and everything works.
