Hey Guys,
I just moved down to Orlando. I am driving one day and my driver's side headlight flickers and then cut out. I got some new bulbs from TheRetrofitSource.com and my boy installed them for me. Now a week later, they are both out and I have no headlights. They are on when the car starts, but then flicker and ultimately cut out. I don't know of any shops down here that I could take it to for a diagnosis or to fix it. The passenger side ballast was changed by the dealer a couple of years ago. To my knowledge, the driver's side was never changed.

Do you guys have any idea as to whether it's the ballasts or what ?
Also do any of you live in Orlando that can recommend a spot to take it to ?

Orlando Infiniti is on Millenia Blvd (407)734-2970
You may want to just double check that both bulbs have been installed smugly(they only fit flush in one position) and the retaining clip is also snug. After that, I suspect ballasts overheating or maybe a loose connection. The dealer should be able to determine if the ballasts are bad, etc.
Best of luck !

Thanks man. I was really looking to not go to a dealer. I was more thinking along the lines of a shop.

Sounds like your ballasts are acting up. New bulbs don't die in a week.

That's what I thought. Now my issue is how do I get them fixed ? The one place I called down here is talking about he won't do it because it's too much work. I am really at a loss.

Are these factory ballasts? If so, it may be worth a switch to aftermarket. Otherwise you'll have to buy OEM ones on EBay and remove the lamps and replace them (they are mounted to the bottom of the headlight if I remember correctly).

They are both factory ballasts. I have since ordered a morimoto OEM replacement from Theretrofitsource.com. I am really trying not to get factory replacement from Inifiniti. They are waaaaay too expensive.

If you decide to go with a non-OEM (and who could blame you !) I'd go to The Retrofit Source. I would choose the Morimoto XB35 ballast kit. They used to sell a 'kit' with a wiring harness to bypass the OEM completely. If you call them, they can walk you through whatever you need. Some peeps are tempted to go with a 55w ballast, thinking it will make a brighter light. It doesn't. In fact, they burn out sooner and reduce the kelvin which makes your color lean toward yellow.

Yup, it sounds like that is the route I will have to take. I called the dealer and asked how much the ballasts are, and he told me one is $800. haaa haa. Yea ok !!

I actually placed an order for the Morimoto ballast already. I ordered these http://www.theretrofitsource.com/compon ... iMv8fmrTb1
I will probably just order the other one and go from there. Of course I will consult with them first to see what they recommend. This no headlight thing is tough. My day is over at 6pm lol

Used OEM ballasts are all over ebay for pretty cheap.
