Hi folks :I own a Nissan D21 4WD 2.4L and I have had several rear brake cylinder leaks (3 in less than 1 year). I have replaced cylinders each time but after some time they (or one of them) start leaking again. Do you have any idea of what the problem could be. thanks

When was the last time you flushed your entire brake system (The master cylinder, calipers. wheel cylinders, and the proportioning valve)?

Brake fluid has the unique ability to absorb moisture. This can be a real problem because moisture in a brake system causes rust, cylinder wear and premature seal failure. If you are using a brake fluid that is not rated for your year of vehicle this can also cause you trouble.

I might also suspect that the part you are buying is of poor quality. Where are you getting your wheel cylinders from?

I would recommend changing th leaking part again, flushing the whole brake system with new fluid. Most older Nissans should be using a DOT3 rated Brake Fluid. I can do my Xterra in about an hour or less so it's very easy and it's something I do every 2-3 years.
