I have just purchased a used R33 GTST Type M brakes front and rear, they are 296mm x 30mm front and 296mm x 18mm rear. I have couple questions regarding this Skyline brakes.

1) They are heavier than I expected from an aluminium caliper. Are all the Skyline brakes, including GTR, GTS, GTST and R32, aluminum?

2) On the back of the front rotor printed 28mm, so is this means they are 28mm thick? However, I measured the thickness, and it is 30mm.

3) Are the calipers generic black (except Vspec brembos)? mine is not, they do not have any color.

4) Lastly, I searched, but any good link for a clean to repaint walkthrough on brakes?

Thanks guys.

They are not has heavy as they would be, if they were cast iron.

Rotor minimum thickness is what is stamped onto rotors.

No color bare aluminum means rebuilt.. usually. Not a bad thing if that is the case here.

^it means someone took them apart due to mechanical failure (seized piston or something) and rebuilt them. technically they should be like new now if it was a recent rebuild.

rebuild means changing the rubbers and seals, but how does that have to deal with the color of the caliper?

i understand what rebuild means but SmithSR said "No color bare aluminum means rebuilt", that's why i don't know how does rebuild have to deal with the caliper color.

Thanks for the input, I just found out that only BNR32 GTR and Brembos are black, and the rest are grey/bare color.

28mm is the minimum thickness of the rotor. Rotors are to be replaced at the minimum thickness, which is usually 2mm less than original size
