HELP! New owner of a 1990 nissan 240sx

So i bought it off a friend, and idk where to go and how much it cost for me to get its valve adjustment done... anybody can guestimate for me? itll be alotta help and shoot me places that are doing it. Im from los angeles california.

Probably a lot, considering it's tedious. The shims are expensive, and on top of that you'd be paying for labor.

I would do it myself, if I were you.

Really? Cos my dad is a mechanic so i dont needa worry about labor. Just needed to know from owners how much it would cost me for parts and everything.

Really it depends on how many shims you replace, if you lose a spring, etc.

I've read that the shims cost $12 a piece. You won't know how many you have to replace until you measure them to see if they're in tolerance. Do a search on valve adjustment, there's tutorials all over and lots of good information.

If your dad is a mechanic then he should know where to get parts and an idea of what to do unless its only been sbc's and carbs his entire mechanic career.

Just search dude. Here's the FSM for your motor for when you take it apart you'll have the steps and torque specs. Good luck
