Yeah, you def have to pull the engine for that. And it's not going to be as easy as a normal car. Pulling the motor your first time, and before deletes will be gruesome. As far as the rod bearing, the bearing is cheap, the crank, not so much. You can find good ones used sometimes, but that will still be around $250-300. Then you have to ponder why it spun a rod bearing. Was there an injector too lean? All that stuff will turn into $$$$. Personally, I wouldn't pay $1500 unless it was a TT that had a great shaped interior/exterior, and the fact that I've been in the motor a few times.
