well i need some info on fixing this problem myself if possible or finding a deal online cause going to the dealer would be super costly im sure. I have a 03 altima 2.5s and cause of my CAI i got hydrolock... well ive fixed everything i can think of even my CAI got chopped to make a short ram anyways. it has new spark plugs, new battery, new MAF also i have given it 2 oil changes. the car runs but when not pressing the gas pedal it dies within a min if the air condition is on it stays on maybe 5mins, when i drive it around the block it runs like normal but when i stop it dies unless i step on the brake and gas at the same time so now im thinking that the TPS may not be werking right. the RPMs moves around from 1-2 then dies. any sugestions on how to fix myself if possible, or whatever else.?!

all the best,damien

does your model year have the cam/crank shaft sensor recall? also you can look into the pre-cat. i have an 02 which i believe is the same car all around and the pre-cat breaks up and floods the engine with particles from the inside of the cat. i just ordered new headers to see if getting rid of the pre-cat will stabilize the motor. mine does the same stuff only it doesn't yet get to the point where it dies but is very close. i have already changed the tps on my car and it still does the same stuff. does your car also shift hard between 1st and 2nd? if so, i've found that if you take off the heat shield on the manifold, the car runs smoother and keeps the idle problem to a minimum. not sure if any of this will help but it's worth a try i guess.p.s.- if your gonna take your heat shield off, make sure you run your ac every once and a while so that it doesn't get too hot... i live in phoenix, az and it hasn't overheated at all on me even with outside temps over 100.

good luck

no my car didnt have the recall for the sensor. but i will look into taking off the heat shield and i dont have a pre-cat.. i have a cutsom exhust.. we took off all stock parts when i got the car. so ill see what the heat shield will do off the manifold. im also now looking into the crank position sensor.just today it back fired twice while driving around

if you dont have a pre-cat then i would lean towards the crank pos sensor. i have met a lot of people with nissans, past and present, that have had to replace that part (recall or not). my boss just got his replaced on his 01 maxima. not sure how much they cost but it's definately a good start.

ive been checking all recalls for my car cause im sure the crank position sensor will bearound the 300$ mark... as for the throttle posotion sensor it isnt sold by itself and or sold by any auto store/shops its only by dealer. and you have to by the full throttle body at 700$. well i dont get paid till next fri (sept 1) .plus i dont know if i should try and go to junk yards and take a risks or fork out all the bux and buy new.
