anybody have a good suggestion for passing an 8 gauge wire through the firewall in a first gen q? it's for an amp, and once it's through the firewall, the rest of the routing is no problem, but man, i was hoping for an extra existing hole/grommet/cable entry place, and there are none that i can see. as a LAST resort, i'll drill one myself, but if anyone has done this before and has some advice, i'd like to hear it. thanks. randy

an 8 gauge wire isnt exactly small. your probably not going to be able to squeeze it through another grommet. what i would say, is go to the autoparts store, get a rubber grommet that will fit snug on the wire, and drill it.

I'm the car audio moderator. (hi) I am going to go look at this situation this weekend on the Q (91) at home. I'll let you know. If you cant wait till Friday, then drill and use a good grommet. Just make sure that you only have 1 sheet of metal to go thru, otherwise it could be really bad.

simmsled-thanks. i'll be interested to hear what you find/see--i can wait--i have other bits that i can work on in the meantime. i thought about posting in the audio forum, but figured the problem was q-specific. that thing is built like a vault. -randy
