I'm not sure which vacuum lines attach to which nipple on the wastegate. I know that a vacuum line goes from the boost controller to one of the barbs on the wastegate. Which barb gets the boost controller vacuum line? What line connects to the other barb on the wastegate? Thanks

the boost controller is connected to the side connection. the other one is just for vent or if you are using an electric boost controller you have to use the top one for another vacuum/boost source.

Is using a manual boost controller (bleeder valve type):

Get the signal from anywhere from after the turbo to before the throttle body. The closer to the turbo the less PSI you'll reach but less chance of spikes or overboost. The closer to the TB the more PSI you'll get. Also the WG will open at the "correct" PSI reading on your boost gauge (installed after TB). This signal should be routed through the MBC (or the MBC should be Ted off this line) and connected to the side port of the WG.

If using electronic boost controller (wastegate control type):Get one signal from anywhere after turbo before TB and connect it directly to the side port of the WG. Get another signal from after turbo and before TB and route it through the EBC's solenoid and connect it to the top port. Make sure to select Wastegate in you EBCs setup.

What huguest said is true, lemme add some more:

Ideally, you want it on the cold pipe RIGHT before the throttle body, so your engine will see the full boost the spring is set at.

If you have it on the hot pipe, you're engine will see a percentage of the boost, depending on the efficiency of the intercooler.

The lower nippe of the wastegate goes into the hot/cold pipe, and the upper one is unused, unless you have a boost controller.

Very true. But if you are going to use an EBC I believe it is best to have it near the compressor outlet. Shorter lines, less prone to crack be cut or bent, and also the boost controller will let you reach the PSI you desire and once it gets there the WG will react more quickly... at least that's the reasoning I used when desgining my system.

just a quick question i was reading on tial's website and they say that the side nipple on the WG should go into the compressor housing on the turbo and the top one should be left open if no boost controller is used. is this way right as well?

EDIT: checked their site and it seems thats not where i found it, i remember reading it somewhere but i dont remember where.

The side port gets hooked to any vacuum port. Doesn't really have to be from the compressor housing. It does however have to register boost. Like the line from the fuel pressure regulator. I have mine tapped into the intake manifold, that way the wastegate signal comes after the intercooler and compensates for the pressure loss you get in all large intercoolers.

Work good last long time..hite hite.
