Post

Hi all,
My name is Nick, and I'm a mechanical engineering major at Bucknell University, in PA. I drive a Qx4, so I'm new to the Maxima forum, but not nico, and the site's always been very helpful. I'm a big fan of Nissan in general, and love the VQ engines. It was an easy decision when it came time to pick an engine for my latest project.
Myself, and a fellow MechE are building a super light, aluminum framed, mid engine racecar. We are using a nissan VQ30de, out of a 2001 I30. Initially the car will be running with a mostly stock engine, the only modifications being headers, and a ram air intake on the roof of the car. Eventually though, we aspire to turbocharge the engine. 1,200lb car/300+hp= better power to weight ratio than the Mclaren F1
Anyway, getting to the point...
If anyone has any of the following parts available at a lowish price, please let me know. You can email me at [email protected]. We'll likely be getting a lot of parts from junkyards, ebay, and places like jcwhitney/autopartswarehouse etc. I thought it might be a good idea to throw up an inquiry on this forum as well.

we're looking for:
-manual transmission assembly, cv joints(anyone know if the 6 speed from the 2002+ 3.5 liter models would fit? I know the blocks are pretty similar)
-alternator
-starter motor
-radiator, fans & shroud
-engine wiring harness
-ecm

Thanks guys,
-Nick

From personal experience with the VQ, you need to look into a Denso Starter and Alternator, if offered.
