Help! Need help on installing an air intake for a 90 240sx!!!

Ok I have two question about the installation.

What do I do with the hose line coming from the black cube shaped object (its located on the driver side close to where the old air filter box use to be. I think its the aiv unit? what would happen if I drove the car with that line disattached?

Also how do I install the little sensor that connects onto the old air filter box. What is this sensor good for? What would happen to the car if I drove it with the sensor disconnected?

just get a breather for the aiv box, and for the sensor, i attached mine to the end of hte cone, or you can drill holes in the intake tubing itself.
