so my Z has a misfire on cylinder 3. it happened on a cold night which may or may not matter for the situation. the misfire intermittently stops and fires normally for about a minute then it misfires again.

so far this is what i've done.

swapped the #3 coil with a known firing cylinder.
swapped the #3 spark plug with a known working one.
swapped the #3 injector with a new one.
ran compression test, compression is good.

and still the misfore persists... the only other cause of the issue that i can think of is either the wire to the coil or a part of the harness.
anyone know what it most commonly would be?

I know someone post on here having a similar issue, and it ended up being the comp. If its possible to swap with a known working one? If not then check the wiring, make sure there are no corrosion at the coil and PTU. Check the wiring at the PTU, and clean the connectors. its very possible it may be loose or corroded. Do this before the computer, this seems to be the easiest thing to do and may be the problem.

thanks for the pointer man... i think you're probably right about it being the comp. i checked the coil and the PTU and cleaned any corrosion there was but it still didn't solve it. i will try to swap in another comp to see if it's the issue.

OP check all your grounds. Look in the FSM in EC/EF to see which wires go where.
