Ok here is some basic info on my 240It is a 92 se hatch

Mostly bolt on's header,exhaust,intake,

The background on the problem i have goes like this.

One weekend going to auto-x i overd heated the car on the highway... wtf so i pulled off and popled the hood and the top radiator hose had come of.. So i put it back on filled it back up with coolant let it cool for bout and hour. Drove it home it was fine but missed auto-x. The next weekn sitting in the car my gf said it smelled the same smell it did when i over heated it. So i got out and sure enuff their was a crack in the rad right by top hose. I was able to put some Quicksteel on it for a temp fix untill i got my new radiator. I orderd a koyo oem speck rad with plastic ends. seemed little bigger than oem but not much. Put the new radiator in and still overheating radomly weird.... so i thought it was thermostat put that in still never ran right over heating peroticly. So the last thing i could do was the water pump wich i did yesterday and i filled the coolant back up exactly like the fsm said with the air bleed valve open to let air escape wich i thougth what i had been doing wrong all along . But apprently not because after bout 5 min diving it overheated. I am really stuck and dont know where to go as my next step i have replaced every thing in the system.. i dont see what their is left to do..

Please help

THanks~ANthony

Edit: i have bout 140k mikes on my ka and i am in houston tx

Welcome to NICO

I found these threads that might help. From what I understand, the KA is a real pain, it loves to trap air. I believe behind the thermostat is the most common.

Run a search for "overheating" in the 240SX>technical, KA, and KA-T forums. Hope this helps.

do you still have the fan shroud?(unless you have electrical fans), it could also be the clutch fan going out.this was happening to me, found out the radiator was bad so i replaced it with another stock 1 and walla that fixed my problem.

the fan shroud is very important if you still have the clutch fan.

the clutch fan itself can go wrong, unless you replaced that.can you hear it whenever you rev your engine?

Just curious, did you happen to use a Nissan thermostat? If not I highly suggest spending the extra money for one. My 240 would overheat occasionally and the previous owner suspected a blown head gasket because he had already replaced the waterpump and thermostat. So I happened to take out the cheaply made Autozone thermostat and replaced it with a Nissan thermostat and the car hasn't overheated since.

Thermostat allows the engine to warm up to operating temp with out it the engine is gona stay cold not running properly

I just took the car up to firestone to have the system flushed i suppose their is plently of junk in their thats what caused it to overheat in the 1st place. They also have a machine that make sure their is no air in the system. So we will see what happnens after that

mines been out for years now, warms up to normal operating temp in about 6 mins in wintertime here. Doesn't overheat in the extreme heat either.

Check the belts and the Alternator mount.

I had a tercel die because the alternator was slightly crooked and it put drag on the belt, which slowed down the waterpump, eventually destroying the pump, alternator, radiator, top & bottom hoses, and cracking the block.

I had the same problem. I replaced the water pump and the thermostat but it kept overheating. The problem was i didnt blead it correctly. So i ended up having to blead it like 10 times to get all the air out but it eventually worked. So maybe try bleading it a couple times
