Any suggestions on what we can do to make our '09 Versa sedan stay on the road in windy conditions? What have YOU done to your car to fix this issue of wrestling the wheel to keep it on the highway in windy conditions? We would like to fix this before snowy conditions set in, otherwise our little 'airplane-wannabe' may take us where we don't want to go!

Lower it and/or replace the mediocre stock tires with something wider and stickier. I don't know how much that will help though.

Our cars are tall to begin so the minute you get a gust of wind from the side the car will be hard to keep in line. I experience this quite a bit on open stretches of highways when it gets a little windy.

We have some seriously windy days out here but I've never felt uncomfortable driving the Versa in high wind. I just adjust for any gusts with the appropriate steering inputs.

I never found it to be any big deal.

I thought it doesn't get windy in the desert. Wyoming is bad for wind, it's like that everyday.

Besides that, to compensate for the wind, lower the car, get a strut/sway bar and wider and bigger wheels. It does wonders.

It is scary when overtaking a semi at highway speeds. And during the stormy season, the Versa definately does get pushed around in the wind

Get better tires and put some ballast in the car for winter.

Wind from the side will still cause it to float around but no as much though. This was the first thing I noticed when driving it compared to my civic hatchback.

When my car had the OEM springs on it I noticed that it did this a lot but after getting my lowering springs and new tires I haven't noticed it anymore.

I'll hopefully be getting the under braces for xmas. lol

I felt the same way.. My 09 was a mess at hwy speeds, when stock.

What I did, made a 2000% improvement.

1. Rear Sway Bar2. Good tires (also did 17" wheels)3. Springs and Struts/shocks.4. Braces (strut tower, lower rear, lower front, and trunk/hatch)

I would start at the top of the list and work your way down till you are happy.

For what its worth, The handling is one of things I truly like about this car now.

Thanks, Steed77. Tell me, though. Will all that stuff affect the company honoring any warranty issues? Is yours a sedan as well? What size tires do you have? My husband wondered about that part as he noticed the wheel wells looked 'empty' and figured bigger tires would help.

My dealer Loves to see all the 'crap' I have installed. As far a warranty, I have had NO issues. Yea it's a sedan... Running 205/45R-17 Goodyear Eagle GT tires and THEY ROCK!! good for snow, wet, and dry. Great wear too. Also a very quiet road noise tire too. Actually the brakes work much better with lightweight wheels and GOOD tires. I was very disappointing about the braking on my 09 sedan... after the mods, the braking is 2X better than when new.

Code: I am running TOKICO Shocks & Struts from bob at versaspeed.

Those Eagles are awesome tires, nothing but positive reviews. I may try them out when my Michelin Pilot's need time for replacement.
