yeah.. pretty lame. i rebuilt my sohc and had it running perfectly.. everythings basically been cleaned and replaced. i put about 50 miles on the rebuild, then i got a sr. soo ive been into that. but i tried to start up my sohc and the battery was dead. so i charged it up. it would fire up pretty quickly but it would die after a minute of running.so i checked for gas leaks and pressure, turned out gas started leaking from a old cracked line that comes off the gas tank. thats why i figured it would shut down so i replaced that yesterday, now it will barly start up but it will die immediatly ( starts up hits 2k and die) even if i have my foot on the gas or not. it takes three cranks to fire up. i dont know whats wrong. everythings been cleaned and replaced. no cel or anything. imma check the plugs and maf but they are brand new. it doesnt make any sense. the battery keeps draining out btw.

alright, thanks for the help guys...

well if your having this problem, get out the mulitmeter and check if your fuel pump turns on, you can usually hear it. if its not, check the fuse box by the battery, its a 10a fuse, if thats good. then its your "egi pump" fuse, which is located in the same fuse box. which was my problem. good luck. & i hope this helps.

shoot, my sohc still wont start. i can hear the fuel pump turn on, sounds a bit werid. i pulled the spark plugs and they are covered black, and you can smell the gas on them. i recleaned them and put them back in and nothing. the batterys dead, so ive been jumping it. the thing is, i left it charging for about 15 minutes and when i took off the jumper cables it would crank over once, and then when i go to try again. it would die. why is the battery dieing soo fast. but when the battery is charged up. it starts up, but dies sooner or later. could it just be my battery?

There is supposed to be a certain amouont of voltage, and it will usually start even with a bad battery. But if the alternator is also bad, then I don't know if that would be okay. They should be the first things you check/fix.

I have heard of injectors going bad and leaking too much fuel. This washes away lubrication for the cylinder walls/rings, and it can contaminate the oil something fierce, so you will need to change that if that's the case.

yeah its not the battery, i just got it checked and recharged from advanced. cant be timming, just it was running perfectly before i stop driving it. it litterally has 50 miles on the rebuild. i just had it sitting cause i got a sr. so far i checked:

starter relay (blue one by the battery)fuel pumpegi pump relayfuel pump fusespark plugs ( which are pretty fouled up)

i didnt check for spark cause it starts up and hits 2500 rpm and then dies withing 30 seconds.

you can hear the fuel pump turn on & prime.

i dont think its the injectors, well i hope its not the injectors.

Maybe the injector o-rings are torn, that could cause flooding of fuel. That happened to me and my car stumbled a lot, and wouldn't idle.

Pull them out and check if any of them are torn, then put then back by applying Vaseline onto the o-rings, they should slide in very easily.

alright guys.. i know its been a while. but i pulled the fuel injectors out and the o-rings (all 3 of them on a single injector look fine) i even took them in into my local napa store. they seem fine. the rail seems fine. i really dont know where to look next. i checked everything. i searched every forum. someone needs to help. i had a guy come check it out today to buy but it wont start. so i cant really get far. there has to be a solution. i checked the ground. seems fine. the only thing i noticed is that there a bunch of carbon build up in the injector clip ( where it connects the injector to the harness). im going to clean that with some connection cleaner and give it another go. i just recharged the battery from autozone and its fine. now it wont even start for a second. it just cranks over and over and over. before it use to start up for 10 seconds and die.

Have you made sure the ECM is sending the correct voltages and that all wires are hooked up there?

yeah that sounds good. imma give that a try right now. but i have a feeling its the fuel pump. it sounds hella wierd when its priming. its not a constant prime. its turns on then off then on. the thing is its a new pump, thats why i didnt check it out in the first place. imma go give that look and if not ill mess with the afm. thanks tho. good input.

alright guys, the car starts now. the only thing that was wrong was the battery was low, and there was no gas in the car.

but i have a new problem. my car starts and immediatly goes to 5300 rpm. it wont let down but goes up from there if i hit the gas.

heres a video
