I am thinking you are on to something!

When is the last time you flushed the cooling system?

Pretty easy to replace after the center ornamental cover and its bracket is removed

Good time to convert to an OAT coolant, also. Pull the radiator and straighten fins, back flush it and the AC condenser for rocks, clean the intervening space between them and replace the foam blocks on the radiator. If maintenance has not been so good, might want to replace the sacrifical anode (metal tube) on the lower hose also.

Oh, and check you fan very carefully for fractures.

Does the gauge finally move when the engine is warm?

Also check the condition of the rad cap and coolant level itself. The spring mechanism in the cap needs to be free.

Even if the T-Stat is crapped out, the car ought to warm up eventually. Capiche?

Yeah it did warm up eventually, but only a little bit and the heat inside the car was real weak. It was flushed last year sometime. I replaced the t-stat a little bit ago, made an instant difference...found the problem! lol

thanks!

So good, that would have been today. OEM, I hope! But now you know if you have to replace a third party one.

Stay cozy.
