hey everyone well for the past two days i have driven my 350z to college and for some reason it revs up by itself.

i was driving on third gear and as i pressed the clutch and put it on neutral it just started over reving all the way to 4k rpm.

i freaked out so i turned the car off. i started it up again and it did the same thing. i went to class and came back a few hours later and turned the car on and it was fine.

have any of you guys experinced this same problem? please help me.

my mechanic at Z garage said it may by that my clutch is slipping but he cant say for sure untill i take it to the damn shop. **** he knows whats wrong but he just wants to get me in the damn shop... please help.

maybe the butterfly in the throttle body is stuck or needs lube....you can find out easily if you pop ur hood and twist the throttle butterfly and see if it returns. it should return as soon as you let go. This has happened to me on another car a long time ago.

unhook the leads (positive and negative) on your battery for a minute or two, that should solve iti had the same problem on a 2005 Mitsu Pajero, that fixed it right up...

It may be a sensor. If the mechanic said it could be your clutch bust out the yellow pages and find a new mechanic. A guy i work with recently had this problem on his focus..... It would rev up to 4k every time he pushed the clutch in. I am pretty sure he had to replace a sensor, but i cannot remember which one. If i see him i will ask him tonight at work (3rd shift). I wouldn't advise disconnecting your positive power...... you'll lose all your settings, disconnecting the negative usually resets the computer, if you disconnect it for X amount of time. refer to the owners manual before disconnecting anything......

your car is acselerated. if it happens again when you step on the cluch just keep steping on the cluch with the brake till it works fine. that happend to me when i first started driving.

also if this happens to you on the street or freeway put your e-brake or elce the car will just try to go. happen to my friend, she went in to a wall on the freeway.

the Z33 has drive by wire.

Unplug your battery to reset your ECU. Good luck!

I had a similar issue when QR25DE in SE-R Spec V was idling high and won't come down. I fixed it by dumping out the 3 months old Castrol GTX and put in Royal Purple oil. Fixed on the first start and saved me from buying a throttle body that I don't need.
