Help My 200,000 mile baby is sick. Rough Idle, then die

Alright folks here it is. I have had my 96 240sx se for a little over a yaer now. It has always idled between 500 and 1000 rpms but never gave me any problems untill recently. I was trying to start my car today as I was leaving the grocery store. Push in the clutch, turn key, engine starts, flutters and dies. No big deal, I figure I didn't hold the key long enough, so I try again. I turn the key get a couple tournovers, a blub blub then die. This went on for 20 min or so b4 I called a tow truck so that At least I would be home with my tools. n So here I am at the mercy of anyone here who has encountereed this same issue with this same care. spark plugs are less than a year oldtime for an oil change. Pleas point me in the right direction so that she'll hold on a little longer till I can giver a new motor. Thanks

First thing you should check for is the big 3 "Fuel, Spark, Compression" do that first and keep us informed. Good luck.
