OK I am a neebie but I tried to find someone with a similar problem on another thread and was unable to do so.

Problem: Trunk won't open, and I don't have a key to the trunk.

I'll press the trunk release button on the drivers side door and I'll hear the trunk trying to open but nothing else happens. (very annoying)

Notes: When I first got this car about one and a half years ago, the trunk opened twice but has since stopped working. Since then I've been crawling into the back seat and using a broom stick to open the trunk through the arm rest. (really sucks, especially since I can't fully use my trunk to capacity because I have to leave the latch clear)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ThanksLee

There's a switch on the trunk latch that disables the electric release. It has probably been switched accidentally...I've done that before.

First thing I'd do is have someone lift up on the trunk while you press the release button. If that doesn't make a difference, you can remove the rear seatback and get into the trunk that way. The seat comes out pretty easily, just two bolts--one on each lower corner, hidden behind the seat bottom. Remove those and the upper seatback lifts up and out of the parcel shelf. Then you can crawl back into the trunk and try releasing it manually.
