well, this is my first post and a disappointing one at that. i bought my 240 about 2 months ago and havent driven it once. anyways, i bought it with a blown head gasket and finally got around to disassembling my motor to replace it. anyways i got my upper intake manifold off fuel rail off header off valve cover and if you own a chiltons manual you know it sucks. it says to remove the timing chain and camshaft sprockets. how do i do this? and what kind of bolts are holding the head to the block? they look square. well ill just wait till i get my cams and chain and such off before i worry about that. please help with advice. thanks. btw, do they make a haynes manual for 1995 s14s? if so anyone know where i can get one cant find one in my area. thanks

Well, first of all I would remove the intake tubes, radiator shroud, fan, drive belts, power steering pump, water pump, and everything else in the way to take off your timing cover.

Once your timing cover is off, you can pop out the timing tensioner and you can pull off your chain easily. As for removing the sprocket, use an impact gun. Or if you don't have an impact gun, put your car in fifth gear and give that nut a tug while the timing chain is on.

Anyhoo, the bottom line is you will need to remove EVERYTHING in the front of the engine, the manifolds, and the timing cover, chain, tensioner, and oil pump to replace your head gasket. Its not an easy task. Also make sure you get the head gasket kit that contains all the gaskets, especially the oil seals.
