Hi I just joined and was hoping that someone could help me out. I bought my new Versa just 11 days ago. Its a 6 speed SL and I am able to turn the car on, but when I put in the clutch and try to put it in gear it won't go. The dealership was not much help because they have to be able to recreate the problem and it only happens intermittently.

Welcome to nicoclub....weeeeeee! k.

Serveral things I would try if this happened to me.

1. Try all the gears but don't force it, even try reverse. If any of these other gears work then go back to 1st gear and take off.

2. When you are trying to put it in gear, rev up a little (2k rpms-ish) while putting the car in gear.

Now I have some questions, does this happen during the first startup of the day or does it happen randomly while your driving?

I know my response isn't an answer why this might be happening but I will check google right now, but it might temporarly fix your issue of not being able to move.

***Update***

Can you car go into gear when the car is turned off? If so try putting the car in 1st gear then turning it on and see what happens from there.

Also I read up on another forum that it could be your pilot bearing. I would defently have the dealer take a look at that. Also have them check for a bent fork.

Thanks so much in advance for your help and advice.

I have tried all gears and it wont go into any gear at all.

This happens when I first start the car, not while driving down the road. It doesn't have any rime or reason when. It has happened with the first start up of the day and also throughout the day.

I will try the reving it up thing though.

I have also tried putting it in gear and then starting it, and the car will not start or kind of does start but then immediatly dies

Your clutch sounds like it is not functioning correctly. Could be as simple as and adjustment, or it could need replacement (which I doubt, since it only does it when the car is cold).

Last year, early SL 6-speeds did something similar in the heat, where the clutch would slip (adjusted too far to the other end). It ended up being that the ASCD switch in the cruise system would slip and the hydraulics for the clutch would go wacky.

So have your dealer look at 2 things - the clutch hydraulics and the ASCD switch.
