first off hello everyone i am new to the boards

i am curently looking into getting a stock 91 240sx SEbut it has some motor issues i am seeking advice befor i decide to buy itwhen you start it, it will start but once you take the motor up to 2grand RPM it start to knock LOUD .. its only when it gets over 2grand RPM. faster you rev faster it knocks. also once it gets warm it will not idle on its own.

what is the issue? is the motor salvagable ?

i just want it driveable for the time being till i get all the parts for a swap.

any input would be most usefull

the price on the car is only 200 some minor body issues.

Is it valvetrain noise, or lower end knock? Knocking is most often a sign of lower end damage. Bad bearings/journals. Usually indicates past abuse, poor maintenance, etc. I would avoid any engine that had such problems, since the effects probably aren't limited to one area only. I.e., you could fix the knock, but have something else break down within a year. For $200 you could probably make some money if you part it out, or you could swap the engine to get it going.
