I got a automatic 92 240sx base model with 120,XXX miles

Any one know how many pounds i need to tighten the bolts that connect the flexplate and torque converter together?

When my car was running my, shift alinement was off. I start it in park, fine. I reverse fully in between P and R. In R it is neutral. In N is drive. Can't move to D unless I yank the shifter to D from N. I can get to 1 and 2 if I do the same thing to get to D then press the button and move to 1 or 2, but I have to hold it there (Doesn't lock there). I had it in the normal position (P is park, R is revers, N is neutral ect) , but it wouldn't start in park. My dad did play with the black shifter thing (dunno what it's call, sorry) maybe that's the problem, I dunno. Any sugestions?

If some one has a fsm, scaning the transmission info for me would be greatly helpfull.

sounds like the problem is the shifter cable itself. Sounds as though the bishings on each end of the cable is bad, which gives the cable some free length, which is why when you shift into one spot, it's somewhere else. No biggie, go to a dealer and get some new bushings. If your father messed with the cable itself, perhaps he messed with the adjustment nut on the bottom of the car, inspect your bushings first, if they're okay, then try to adjust the cable itself.

thanks but i think i have already found the problem. I have two tranmissions. The one i got with the car end up shreading the reverse planetary two days after i bought it. Should have paid more attention to that winding sound when testing it, my lost(i blame the dealership tho...). My father then bought a used transmission at the junk yard and installed it. then we have that problem I mention above, but still drove. The bolts that connected the flywheel and torque converter ended up coming off and now we got new bolts and a flywheel. So while the transmission is out we decided to get to the botom of the miss alinement. We compared it to the other transmission. Our orginal transmission's shifter thing was accurate and great while the one were using now was soft and easy to move. So we unbolted the pan and took a look. This metal piece wasn't engaging right. We fixed that by turning it around. I guess someone took it apart and didn't install it back correctly (I blame the junk yard, they garente the transmission works good). Soon i will be back on the road with her again. yay!

ATENTIONI do need torque specs on the 4 torque converter bolts and the 6 flywheel bolts tho. Please, some one supply me with this info. i don't want anything else to go wrong
