Ok, I'v got everything hooked up for my SR, but I have no power. The battery was dead, so I hooked up some jumper cables. When I did this the positive cable hooked to the charged battery started to smoke. Where should I start searching to find out what the problem is?????

P.S. I still had no power when the jumper cables where hooked up.

Battery is good, ground is good. No melted wires, I'm kind of stumped. If my ECU is bad would I not have any power inside the car?

if your ecu is bad, you would still have interior functions.

If your positive battery cable started to smoke when you connected jumper cables, that's most likely your problem. Where is the positive cable connected to? If the positive battery cable is grounding itself, that would cause your battery to completely drain and also the cable to start smoking etc.

The posative cable is conected to a wire coming out of the fuse box and a wire coming off of the wiring harness, is that right?

I found the problem, I had a wire with an eyelet on the end coming out of the wiring harness that I had connected to the posative battery cable. I took it off and I have power now. Is that wire a ground?
