So I was debating this the past few days ways I could get more mileage out of a 1995 Pathfinder SE. I put a lot of highway miles on every day and figured a few small things could make a difference. I can currently get 22.25 to 23.75 MPG. This is the truck in question:31 x 10.5" tires, 1" lift in front. 3" lift in rear, Push Bar, Bush lights, 3.0 V6, glasspack muffler, Automatic, 4X4
I'm not changing anything as the truck stands ie. smaller tires, removing push bar or roof rack, removing any interior pieces.
I figured, -fill the tires up all equal, at somewhere around 35-38 psi to reduce any rolling type feedback-Build a ram air intake (although I offroad and wouldnt want to risk getting the filter wet)-do a full seafoam of the engine-change thermostat (pretty sure mine is stuck wide open)thats all I can really think of right now.
I'm looking for cheap things I can change as of now because my other car is having work done and I dont have a backup vehicle. In the long run I may start removing catalytic converters if I can without messing with the engine. I also dont think my engine would take too well to any higher octane fuel, although I could try before the price goes up for summer.
Any opinions and ideas are welcome.
