Hello everyone.

My cars SES light recently turned on. I looked up on how to get SES code from this forum and it worked.

and this is what I got

1 pause 10 pause 10 pause 10

then after

1 pause 7 pause 10 pause and 10

so I got 1000 and 1700

Now I went to obd II sheet and... I couldnt find those numbers on there. This is where I looked up.http://www.nissanhelp.com/diy/...2.htm

Can someone help me with this? I really dont want to go through the dealership warranty b/c of obvious reasons.

Also... does disconnecting the negative for 30 minutes turn the SES light off?

For 1000, I got CAN COMM CIRCUIT. Couldn't find 1700 though.

No, not according to Nissanhelp.com - they say 24 hours! Apparently because the system has built-in power retention that takes that long to fade. Guess I'll never reset it as my car never sees 24 hours rest!

My SES went on the other day. Understanding that it is often related to the gas cap, I removed it, then re-tightened it. It took 2 days (about 5 trips) but it reset and has not come back on. The cap wasn't loose in the first place though.... so I'm still none the wiser.

Hmm...those don't sound like normal codes...I would either take your car to an autozone or something that has an OBDII reader to get a better idea of whats up, or just go back to the dealer under warranty.

I think I might know what happened.

2days ago... I auto start the engine with autopage 1000... when i got in the car to press the button twice to put the ignition on "ON" it didnt work. In the gauge cluster information screen... it said move the steering wheel left and right and press the button as if the wheels were locked but that didnt work b/c engine was already on by autostarter. I guess that somewhat confused the computer or something. So I turned the engine off using the autostarter. Then when I started the engine the normal way... SES light turned on. I shouldve included this in the first post of this thread.

So yesterday... I gave the 'disconnecting the negative" method a try. I disconnected the negative for 30 minutes. It worked. SES light is now off.Im hoping it stays off.

So... what phob said makes sense I guess. i guess there was some sort of confusion with can bus. =)

I'm still interested in what 1700 means though.
