Car was acting fine till I decided to replace the valve cover gasket and now it stutters smokes horrible like it's getting too much gas and leaks oil.

is it possible that the gasket u replaced the old one with is broken, or not the exact size as the old one?

no I checked that and it's right. I thought that it might have been a timing issue but it wasn't that either. It's a steady leak too and it only looks like it's coming from the front of the engine nothing around the backside.

You sure the gasket sealed properly and the nuts were torqued to specs. Did you use copper gasket sealant when you installed the new gasket?

I followed the book on the exact way to do it and I used black silicone.

I do believe that's the wrong sealant. Copper is not the black stuff... Reseal with copper.

was wondering... u replaced da gasket because it was no good right? was there oil obivous on the block?

because im wondering if ii ii need to replace mine. I bought the car with this oil on the block, and it smokes when ii drive it, im guessing beacause of the heat evaporating the oil from the outside of the block..

was it difficult to replace?

If the smoking continues and/or the oil doesn't go away, your headgasket may be on the blink.
