So we're finishing up putting together the rebuilt DE and into the car when we notice that there is no TPS plug to plug into the TPS!

We cut into the harness a little and found nothing so far... are there any cases that a stock DE harness just didn't come with a TPS plug?

any help would be appreciated. thanks

Is the difference between the motor and harness auto and manual? I believe an auto TPS has 2 plugs and a manual 1.

The harness came out of a dohc manual supposedly. I'll check on the auto stuff but we were looking at it last night and didn't even see the plugs...

So I figured it out. The TPS plug is there with everything else, and the plug on the engine by the TPS plug isn't used in a manual DE so it just needs to be capped off.

Thanks anyways guys.

I'm confused as hell from reading those posts. You want a manual TPS with a manual transmission and harness, and an auto TPS with an auto harness and transmission (with matching ECU's too). I hear it causes problems if they don't all match up.

First of all the 89 body was a manual and the DOHC Block came from an auto, but that doesn't matter. So we put in the DOHC manual engine harness and we THOUGHT that there wasn't a plug but there was. We were just confused because there is a three pin plug on the TPS that's not used by manuals, but it wasn't capped off because the block originally came from a automatic. I don't think this is my problem anymore.

Although we are still having some problems getting the car running... It'll start after pumping the gas but then you have to keep your foot just slightly on the gas to keep here going. I could use some help there if possible. I'm going to make another Topic called, "DOHC swap : won't IDLE" if you guys would like to help there. I'll explain more in there also.
