Yesterday I was out in my 1992 q45 and the heat started blowing ice cold... I tried to drive around a block to get the antifreeze flowing and my temp gauge start rising to hell. I was confused and limped it home after letting it cool. I automatically assumed it was either the water pump or the thermostat gone bad due to the upper radiator hose being stiff as heck. Ne way today I looked under ther hood and noticed that the tensioner on the fan belt flew off making my radiator fan not spin. Now here's my question, I was going to buy one from a guy who was parting out his 1994 q45. But I think it might be a q45t. Does it matter as long as its not a q45a? Please let me know because ii don't want this guy to be depending on me to come get the tensioner and I don't buy it. He also has another guy waitin on it and I kinda made him promise it to me.... I need an answer before tommorow morning! Thanks in advance

Could the reaon it cme apart be because the tensioner pulley bearing froze? Any strange engine noises in the days leading up to this?
The power steering pump pulley on a Q45a is different than a base or Q45t. If it's the PS tensioner pulley you're replacing then it probably won't work. I think the center bolt is going to be different also (longer?). If last night's deal fell through and you can afford to have your Q down for a few days get a hold of one of the sellers in the parts forum (dsagers) or post up what you need here with some dimensions if it's the tensioner pulley and maybe another member can help.

Well yeah my belts are good but I know about the chain guides... I haven't changed them but the guy I'm buying the belt tensioner is parting out his car. I might just get the guides from his motor. Its a 94.. so to remove the tensioner I just have to take off the bolt in the front of it and loosen up the adjuster bolt and it should just come out right?

Loosen the nut on the bolt through the center of the pulley a couple of turns and then put a wrench onto the long adjusting bolt until the tension on the belt is gone. The adjusting bolt won't turn until the pulley bolt is loose. Once the belt is loose finish removing the pulley center nut and slide it off. Take note of the order of the washers and spacers on the front and backside of the pulley. The bracket that mounts to the engine is easy to remove once the pulley is out if you're grabbing it too. I'm pretty sure the pulley and bracket bolts are all 12mm and 14mm but bring a 10mm socket just in case.
