want to get a new set of tires for christmas and am having a bit of trouble sifting through all the different brands. ill try to be as specific as i can with what i expect from the tires.

I do not care at all about ride comfort, road noise, etc. The tires are going on a set of s14 rims, so i assume 205/55WR16 would be the best tire size. These tires are going to be used for daily driving mostly, with the occasional spirited twisty road drive. I also hope to try autox and track soon. I live in texas so rain traction is secondary to dry grip, but it would be nice to have a little. I know tires are somthing that you shouldnt cut corners on but i dont think my family could afford 200$ a piece tires, so i am thinking 150$ per tire is probably the max spending range.

what do you guys think? i was looking at the bridgestone s-03, but what do you guys reccomend? thanks!

s-03, Pzero rosso..uhm....yeah, the s-03 will work wonderfully. Probably even better than the Pzero for most purposes. I wuld say pilot sports or something, but thats ungodly expensive.

you may want to check out some AVS ES-100's..cheap and good.-chet

hrm, ungodly expensive? the pilot sports are less than the s-03s at tirerack right now. I havent looked at michelin very much, how would they rate next to the bridgestones? they dont get as good of reviews at tirerack but thats not a good way to judge a product. what do you guys have to say about them?

In that size and price range I would look at the Bridgestone So-3Goodyear F1GS-D3Pirelli P Zero RossoYokohama AVS Sport

The AVS ES100 is not nearly as sticky. The Goodyears are great at first but do not stay as sticky as long as the SO-3 Pole Position.

I like pilot sports, but to be honest the s-03 will handle better...its got a far stiffer sidewall, and a more solid tread design.-chet

The G-Force KD tires stick like glue in the dry. Not as effective in the wet as the SO-3 or Pilot Sports. The new Pilot Sport PS2 is also very good.
