I found a guy selling a low mileage set of Sport 500s for a great price, and I need turbos, so I figured I may as well upgrade. Anyways, turns out they're from an automatic car because the compressor housing is stamped 48 a/r so I know they're from an auto. Question is, just how quickly would these run out of breath?

My car is a 92 manual with 550cc injectors, a Stillen pop charger, Stillen x pipe/cat back, will get my Z1 2.5" downpipes and 2.5" catless test pipes installed while it's under the knife, so it'd be a full mandrel 2.5" exhaust and a Spec clutch setup. I still have stock intercoolers and that's about it as far as performance goes, save for a Ztuner chip on the ECU.

So can anyone shed some light on what driving upgraded auto turbos would be like on a mildly upgraded manual?

matt, be careful that you're not getting scammed.....i'm not 100% sure, but i didn't know sport500 turbos had an auto version and a manual version. i thought that was just stock turbos?
either way, if you can, spring for some jwt530bb turbos.

Concept Z advertises them as having the option of auto or manual. I'd like to have some ball bearing turbos, but Sport 500s or Z1 GT500/525s would provide plenty of boost and power for me and they're much cheaper :)
