I've been lurking in a few 240 forums for some time now and I'm wanting to buy one more and more. However, I really can't decide between the 240sx (95-98), a non turbo 300zx or a turbo MR2. Please help me convince myself. What are the advantages of this car compared to the other two? For me at least, the relative rarity of the 240 is a nice plus. However, I feel that the 240 with the stock KA24 engine is a bit slow. From what I've read, I'll get a good '97 for around 6-7k. On top of that, how much would I have to spend to get a modest 200hp?

If your wanting a nice car that has power right out of the box untouched. I would have to tell u to get the MR2 turbo. They are good cars, the motor is built toyota tuff, and they look good. My cousin has an MR@ and every chance i get to drive it i take. 240sx are great cars but reading what u want out of the car its not gonna be the car for you, unless u wanna do a swap or turbo kit. 300zx i really wouldnt miss with one especially if its not turbo cause they are a pain in the *** to work. and there kida on the expensive side to tune. But dont get me wrong either, MR2s have thier flaws too!

Dude,

You are talking about 3 cars that I think have entirely different characteristics.

The non turbo z is a sweet cruisng car, but it's tough to make it fast and agile without a bunch of $$$.

The turbo MR2 is obviously quick, rare and can be made faster with minimal money spent, but it is small and can be a hand full if you don't know what you are doing.

My 240 is basically stock and although it may be slow by sports car standards, it just feels like a good compromise of the other 2 cars. Being biased, I would say 240 and turbo the KA. That will get your 200HP and give you a fun and unique ride. If you can find a 97-98 for 6-7K, better check it out in person and through carfax. They are demanding a premium right now.

if u want power, you'd have to get a Turbo Z really, or the Turbo MR2. Both MR2s and 3ooz's are not the easiest of cars to work, or hte cheapes. If this is going to be a secondary car, id say probably get the MR2 turbo if u can find one in decent shape (probably costing a good 6-7k) and a 97 24o 5spd will run u more like 8k or 9k.
