ok so Im planning to get an s14, but the cleanest one i seen is an automatic with 170k miles on it. I want it to be my project car, and i def wanna swap for an sr20. Its going from an automatic to manny. people have told me that its gonna be hard for the transformations, and that a lot of people dont do it right. but ive seen an ok s14 manual 200k miles, but its not as clean and needs some work. which one do you think i should get?

To the op tell those people their full of $hit.

You do what u want to do, my 2cents if you listen to other people you'll never do what you want to do. And it will pass you by, then later down the road you probably regret no doing it.

Its all nuts and bolts, but besides that it takes some knowledge which you'll find here on this forum. But the most important is will to do the work. If your planing to buy the car and then let some company install it for you. Then you might as well get a Cavalier or like Versa and leave it stock.

There is no such thing as right and wrong way of doing swap. And besides you'll be hecking-up a car any way to put in the SR. Yes there might be some issues like trouble codes or CEL lights. But you'll have to deal with it, and I'm sure your looking for a 1995 S14 since you want to toss a SR into it. Cause 96+ wont fly with OBD2 car, but I dont know how some people get by with swaped NON OBD2 motors into 96+ cars.

But first get the car, and automatic stock S14(240sx) holds its own, it gets sideways really easily and is fun to drive in stock form. Mainly you should be looking for the body.

Think of it this way, if you'll have good body(base) to start working from your options are endless.

But that's just what I think personally.

searching the nyc and connecticut craigslists is also a good idea.. i live in MA and if you got a spare 10 or 15 throw a buddy some gas and go check the car out.. it might be worth finding an s14 with 80k miles and needs a motor that somebody will let go cheap.

i agree that the body is the biggest thing to look for though, right now the car im about to buy needs body work and its money i didnt want to spend but the deal im getting on the car makes things even out
