Hey Guys, so just a couple of days ago i went to get an alignment on my brand new tires. The guy at the alignment shop told me that he could do the alignment for me but it will not slow down the wear in my tires if i don't get this (strut radius arm) fix. Well when i went home i checked online and at a local part store for this part but they where unable to find it. maybe its the wrong name for this part. so could you guys help me identify this part.

also would i need special tools to change this myself?

That is a tension rod. The bushing needs to be replaced. They make poly bushings for about $35 or adjustable ones for $150+. Yes they need to be in good condition or will cause bad alignment, shimmy during braking and pulling to one side.

No, no special tools. There are rite ups on changing out the bushing all over the net. Make sure you search as a tension rod.

Just get the bushing. You can get the whole tension rod, but unless you had some sort of run in with a curb, they should be ok.

You can either take them to a shop and have them push the old bushing out, might cost a few bucks, or cut out the old bushing. Once you get the old bushings out, there will be a metal race that also needs to come out, that part could get tricky. If you can get a punch and make it collapse on itself, it will come out easy.

Putting the poly bushing in, well that is extremely easy, its a 3 piece design. Pretty easy stuff.

I think the two smaller bolts are more of studs than bolts aren't they? You might need to get another set of tension rods, you can find them used for cheap. The long bolt you should be able to find at an auto parts store like NAPA, or even a hardware store. Get some Grade 8 bolts
